Royal County Star claims Navan pot
Royal County Star got up in the dying strides after a thrilling finish to the Irish Form Book An Uaimh Chase at Navan.
Glenfinn Captain, the 1-2 favourite, and Watson Lake appeared to have it between them after jumping the third-last – but the duo came back to the field after jumping the final obstacle.
There were still a number in with chances inside the final furlong, but it was Tony Martin’s 10-year-old (14-1) who dug deepest to deny Glenfinn Captain by a head.
