Hockenheim eases to Carlisle victory

Howard Johnson has a fine record at Carlisle and was on the mark yet again when Hockenheim ran out an easy winner of the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre Beginners' Chase.

The 4-11 favourite, carrying the colours of Graham and Andrea Wylie, was sent to the front from the outset by Timmy Murphy.

Always in command, he made all the running to come home with three and three quarter lengths to spare over Pass The Class, who was a nose in front of third-placed Indy Mood.

With Wylie's retained jockey Denis O'Regan suspended, Graham Wylie said: "Howard likes Timmy - he says they have similar styles and both are very good horsemen.

"Timmy said Hockenheim was brilliant when he met a fence right but said that when he met one wrong, he was a bit novicey.

"He likes this track and the ground (heavy).

"He would not like it if it dried up and I think Howard might put him away now until next season."
