Leicester forced to inspect
This afternoon's meeting at Leicester is subject to a 10am inspection after temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight.
Forecasts only predicted a low of minus one but the course was hit with a freezing minus eight - thankfully frost sheets were put down on the shaded areas.
"It got down to minus eight last night which is very cold for this time of year," said clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson.
"However it is forecast to rise to plus eight or nine so we are very hopeful and it looks very positive if we get those temperatures.
"We did have the sheets down but it was only supposed to dip just below freezing."
