Zambezi Sun, last seen finishing down the field in the Arc, suffered an odds-on reverse on his American debut at Santa Anita this morning.

The Khalid Abdullah-owned five-year-old has transferred to Bobby Frankel's yard in the States, having previously been in the care of French trainer Pascal Bary.

It was far from plain sailing for the Group One winner, however, as a restless Zambezi Sun could only finish sixth to Spring House in the San Luis Obispo Handicap.

Jockey Garrett Gomez said of Frankel's new recruit: "He was getting out the whole way with me - I was having trouble keeping him on the race track.

"Going around there the first time, he was OK.

"But by the time he got to the first turn, I had two hands on one rein and he was wanting to get out."
