One to go for McCoy

Tony McCoy moved to within one victory of the magical 3,000-winner mark over jumps when Hello Moscow claimed the Chris Poole And George Ennor Memorial Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton.

The 13-time champion jockey had been stuck on 2,998 winners for the last 11 days – thanks largely to a spate of abandonments because of bad weather.

But this time, McCoy was always in the perfect position riding Jim Best’s seven-year-old – who was sent off at odds of 7-1.

Although it was mighty hard work in the terrible conditions, McCoy showed characteristic steel to repel the late challenge of Spider Boy (20-1).
