Mullins launching Deloitte raid
Tom Mullins could be double-handed in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday with both Oscar Dan Dan and Time Electric being considered for the Grade One contest.
Oscar Dan Dan finished a creditable third on his latest outing in a Grade Two event at Leopardstown, while Time Electric was still travelling well when falling in a maiden hurdle on the same card.
Mullins also has Bob Lingo engaged in Sunday’s contest but he is likely to bypass the race, leaving the County Kilkenny handler with two possible chances.
“Oscar Dan Dan and Time Electric could both run in the Deloitte but Bob Lingo won’t go as he has just come back from a break and won’t be ready enough,” said Mullins.
“Time Electric came out of the fall at Leopardstown fine and thank god he was sound, but I suppose he knew he fell afterwards.
“He’ll be OK by next week and it was a little disappointing when he came down as the race looked a good opportunity for him, but it is just one of those things.
“Oscar Dan Dan could run as well but we will see how the race is shaping up a couple of days beforehand and we’ll also see what the ground is going to be like.
“The horses are getting pretty fed up of running on this heavy ground so we will see.”
Colm Murphy reports Zaarito to be on course for the big race following his victory in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown three weeks ago.
“I’m very happy with him. He’ll have a blow in the morning,” said the County Wexford trainer.
“Luckily enough he doesn’t need much work, we just keep him ticking over.”
