McCoy made to wait

Tony McCoy’s bid to notch his 3,000th career success has been scuppered by the weather again.

McCoy was forced to sit out Wednesday’s action after Leicester was abandoned and he is set to be sidelined again following Chepstow’s cancellation this afternoon.

The champion jockey was due to partner three runners at the Welsh track but clerk of the course Tim Long was forced to abandon the meeting after heavy overnight rain.

He said: “We have had seven millimetres of rain since 5am and it is still raining heavily now.

“When you get that kind of rain on ground that is already heavy, it is bound to have an impact.”

McCoy, who needs just two winners to reach the landmark total, is likely to choose between fixtures at Doncaster and Sandown tomorrow.
