Doyle hoping for 'Top' chance

Pat Doyle is hoping Mister Top Notch stands his ground so that Kilcrea Castle will not have too much weight to carry in the Leopardstown Handicap Chase on Sunday.

Kilcrea Castle is nicely in the handicap at the moment on 10st 5lb for this decent prize over two miles and five furlongs.

The seven-year-old has only had seven races and looked to still be on the upgrade when beating Bluesea Cracker by three-quarters of a length at Punchestown a month ago.

“He won well the last day. He’s in good form and runs on Sunday,” said the Thurles trainer.

“It is a hot contest so we hope the top weight stays in so he gets in with 10st 5lb. That would be nice. He won over two and a half miles the last day so another furlong will be no bother.”
