Catterick forced to check

Sunday’s meeting at Catterick is subject to an 8am inspection due to the threat of overnight frost.

Although temperatures are set to be well above freezing today, they could drop to minus two overnight and clerk of the course Fiona Needham feels it is best to take a look first thing in the morning.

“It got down to around minus three last night but I think it would be raceable later on today,” said Needham.

“It just depends how cold it gets tonight but you would have to say a second night of frost is obviously going to be worse.”
