Nicholls unleashes Hebridean

Smart Flat performer Hebridean makes his first start over obstacles in the Collingwood Team Services Juvenile Novices’ Hurdle at Newbury tomorrow.

The three-year-old was a Group Three winner for Aidan O’Brien at the Curragh back in May and had his last run for the Ballydoyle maestro in the Champion Stakes at Newmarket.

The gelding has now made the move to another champion trainer in Paul Nicholls and he is looking forward to seeing how the son of Bach fares in the National Hunt sphere.

“He arrived from Aidan’s very fit and I have popped him over all sorts of obstacles at home,” said Nicholls.

“He’s on the small side but he has the form on the Flat – we won’t know how good he is until we run him, so we’ll see how he gets on.”

Although yet to see a hurdle in public, Hebridean is as short as 12-1 for next year’s Triumph Hurdle with Victor Chandler and Ladbrokes.
