Pablo du Charmil's record first time out now reads four from four after a bloodless victory in the paddypower.com Handicap Chase at Cheltenham.

Trainer David Pipe had endured a miserable first couple of days at The Open meeting but last year’s Haldon Gold Cup winner jumped brilliantly for Tom Scudamore.

The 17-2 chance travelled sweetly and sprinted clear turning into the straight for a 10-length win over Tramantano.

“It’s been a long couple of days but he jumped from fence to fence,” said Scudamore.

“The team do great job with him at home and he’s always very good first time out.

“His record at Cheltenham has never been that good but he put that to bed today.

“It’s always great to have a winner here and it takes the pressure off a bit.”
