The 2006 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner had little trouble brushing off inferior rivals in the Thurles Chase to follow up his defeat of Kicking King at Punchestown last month.

The Gigginstown House Stud-owned gelding had been off the track for nearly two years before that contest.

“At the moment he seems well, so it’s so far so good, and he just had a little walk around the paddock this morning,” said Tipperary-based Morris.

“We’ll just tip away until Christmas with him, as we have the John Durkan, the Betfair Chase and then the Lexus or the King George to think about.”
