Prince Siegfried given French assignment
Prince Siegfried travels to France on Sunday to augment the already impressive subsequent form of the Tattersalls Timeform Million.
The winner of the Newmarket race, Donativum, went on to land the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita last weekend just a few hours after runner-up Crowded House scooted up in the Racing Post Trophy.
Prince Siegfried took seventh spot in the race, just under four lengths behind the winner and although the third Nasri disappointed at Newbury on Saturday, sixth-placed Monitor Closely enjoyed success on the same card.
Trainer Andrew Balding is looking at the Group One Criterium International at Saint-Cloud this weekend for his charge, who won on his debut at Salisbury and took sixth in the Solario Stakes on his other career start.
“He’s an intended runner,” said Balding. “I suppose the form looks pretty good now, and he hasn’t really had a bad run in three starts.
“I think he’ll be definitely suited by a step up to a mile and he should have no problem with soft ground, which is what it will be out there. William Buick will ride.”
