Bolger considers France for Trophy absentee
Gan Amhras could still gun for Group One glory in next month’s Criterium International after a dirty scope ruled the colt out of Saturday’s Racing Post Trophy.
A fine second to Soul City in the Goffs Million was boosted when his stablemate at Jim Bolger’s, Intense Focus, improved from his third place in that race to win the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket a week ago.
Gan Amhras, who carries the colours of the trainer’s wife Jackie, holds an entry in the French race, to be held over a mile on November 2. It has been won by Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe heroes Bago and Dalakhani since its inception in 2001.
“His scope wasn’t clean this morning, so sadly we can’t go (to Doncaster),” said Bolger.
“We might just go to Saint-Cloud now, there’s a Group One race over there.”
