Dundalk tempt O'Brien with Breeders' prep
Dundalk have announced a new 30,000 Breeders Cup Trial Stakes in an attempt to cater for Irish horses aimed at the showpiece meeting.
Following Aidan O’Brien’s announcement that Duke Of Marmalade was under consideration for Great Leighs’ Breeders’ Cup trials’ night, Ireland’s only all-weather track have moved to fill a gap.
The race will be run over a distance of 101/2 furlongs and will take place on an evening card on Friday, October 3.
On hearing the news O’Brien said it would be his intention to run Duke Of Marmalade in the race if the ground was too soft for him to run in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
“It is a great initiative on behalf of Dundalk Stadium to put on this additional race and the intention would be for Duke Of Marmalade to run at Dundalk if the ground turns out to be unsuitable at Longchamp,” said O’Brien.
