Redcar abandoned

Monday’s meeting at Redcar has been abandoned following an 8am inspection.

The track were forced to take a look after being hit by a significant amount of rain on Friday.

Redcar’s chief executive Neil Etherington said: “We had been a bit worried all week and then we had 17mm of rain last night so the inevitable happened.

“We have had nearly 10 inches of rain in 40 days and like everyone, we just really need some dry weather.

“The track is still waterlogged and this is just a culmination of events really.”
