Best mob-handed in Sirenia
John Best is hoping to strike lucky with one of his three runners in the toteswinger Sirenia Stakes at Kempton on Saturday.
The Maidstone trainer will saddle Deposer, Flashmans Papers and Square Eddie in the Group Three contest over six furlongs.
āItās going to be tough now for Flashmans Papers, I think, because heās too highly rated to run in anything else but Group races,ā said Best.
āHeās a nice little horse, but possibly not quite good enough to win Group races. Heās got a decent draw (seven) and Iām sure heāll run well.
āItās his first time over six, but I think the extra furlong will help him, so hopefully that will be enough to put him in the picture.
āDeposer was drawn on the wide outside in the Gimcrack last time.
āHe ran too free and probably ruined his chances there. I think from this draw thereās a much better chance for him to show how good he is.
āWe think heās pretty good and heāll be a lot better next year.
āSquare Eddie won well at Salisbury and the race has turned out well. Thereās plenty of winners coming from the race, but heās not drawn too well (two) being drawn out wide.
āI wouldnāt be running him if I didnāt think he was pretty decent. Like Deposer, heās going to be a better three-year-old.
āHeās by Smart Strike so heās got an all-weather pedigree and it will be interesting to see how he goes on it. Heās not run on it yet.ā
Victory for one of his trio could make the winner an attractive proposition to sell to America.
āI donāt like running three in one race but when youāve got a race like this itās important we take our chances,ā added Best.
āWe try to sell horses so if we could win this with any of them they would be worth a lot of money to go to America.ā
