Dud delights ahead of Curragh tilt

Kevin Ryan reports Wi Dud to be at the top of his game as he heads to the Curragh for Sunday’s Cill Dara Security Flying Five Stakes.

The colt was a Group Two winner as a juvenile and although he has failed to live up to that promise over the last couple of seasons, he has been highly tried in sprint company this term.

He will be fitted with blinkers for the first time on Sunday and Ryan is hopeful he will finish in the frame.

“The horse is in very good form so we thought we would take our chance and see how he goes,” said Ryan.

“He’s been running in good races all year and we have given him a bit of a break to freshen him up and he seems very happy with himself.

“They will probably go quite fast early on so we are putting the blinkers on him just to sharpen him up really and we’re looking forward to it.”

Mark Wallace has saddled Benbaun to win the last three renewals of the Group Three contest but will be represented by Chief Editor this time.

Bryan Smart’s Fathom Five, Alan Berry’s Look Busy and the David Nicholls-trained Masta Plasta complete a strong raiding party, while Snaefell is the sole home-trained challenger.
