Stubbs off on his travels
Races in places as far apart as Ascot, Maisons-Laffitte and Istanbul are being considered for Stubbs Art after he missed the Juddmonte International.
Fast ground at Newmarket led connections to take the David Elsworth-trained colt, third in both the English and Irish 2000 Guineas, out of the Group One won by Duke Of Marmalade.
“David and I walked the track and in my opinion it was dead firm. He got jarred up at Ascot in the St James’s Palace and we didn’t want to jar him up again,” said Jimmy Lindley, racing manager to owner Matthew Green.
“He’s well, he’s on the boil and he needs to get on to a race track again soon.
“There’s a race for him at Maisons-Laffitte (La Coupe De Maisons-Laffitte) in a couple of weeks time and after that there’s the Queen Elizabeth at Ascot. He’s also got an entry in a Group Three at the Curragh but I doubt he’ll go there.
“He’s also in a 600,000 race in Turkey (Topkapi Trophy, September 7) over a mile and a quarter that’s coming up soon, so we’ll keep an open mind on that as well. We want a bit of cut in the ground for him.”
