Saturday's Redcar card in balance

Officials at Redcar have been forced to announce an 8.30am inspection for Friday ahead of their scheduled Saturday card.

The track is currently unraceable and although conditions are steadily improving, there is more rain forecast and acting clerk of the course John Sanderson thought it prudent to take a look.

“It is a lovely morning and there hasn’t been any rain on the track for around 15 hours but we couldn’t race at the moment,” said Sanderson.

“The problem is, the track is draining very slowly because all the land is saturated and if we get the forecast rain today, that would diminish our chances even further.”
