Bell on Art Connoisseur weather watch

Connections of Art Connoisseur are keeping a watchful eye on the weather ahead of his intended return to action in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes at York.

Michael Bell’s colt was unbeaten on his first three starts, running away with the Group Two Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot in the process.

He failed to keep tabs on the impressive Mastercraftsman in the Phoenix Stakes last time but Bell reports him to be in flying form.

“Art Connoisseur could be heading for the Gimcrack but we need the sun to start shining,” said Bell.

“He is in very good order at the moment and the Gimcrack is certainly the number one plan, providing the ground is decent.”
