Lady Gloria enters Strensall shake-up

James Given is considering the Sky Bet Strensall Stakes for Lady Gloria at York on Friday week, granted suitable ground.

The Group Three contest worth £100,000 and over nine furlongs, is one of several options the Lincolnshire trainer has for the four-year-old filly.

Winner of the Group Three Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom in June, she was last seen finishing unplaced in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket’s July meeting.

“Depending on what the rain does the rest of the week, we might put her in the Strensall Stakes at York week,” said Given.

“We’d be taking on the boys, but it’s nine furlongs and if it rained it might be an option as she goes on soft ground – and it is local.

“There’s a 10-furlong Group Two at Deauville shortly after York, then going into September she’s in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown and the Blandford Stakes at the Curragh.

“She’s also in the Sun Chariot at Newmarket in early October, so we’ve got lots of options coming up.”
