Dimenticata sparkles at Fairyhouse

Dimenticata gained a deserved success at Listed level in the Belgrave Stakes at Fairyhouse today.

Last season's Irish 1000 Guineas runner-up has been in good spirits of late and carried on the good work with a determined triumph under Chris Hayes.

The 14-1 shot stalked British runner Lipocco tight on the far rail before gliding into contention inside the final furlong.

Dimenticata then drew clear of Flash McGahon inside the distance to repel the fast-finishing Sharleez by a head.

Elletelle returned to form with a stout performance in third, while the Ralph Beckett-trained Lipocco (9-4 favourite) was fifth.

With winning trainer Kevin Prendergast not in attendance it was left to James Kelly, racing manager to winning owner Lady O'Reilly, to outline future plans.

"She deserved this having been runner-up in last season's Guineas," he said.

"She will run in a fillies-only Listed race next Sunday at the Curragh. This is the first stakes winner Chris has ridden for us this season."

David Myerscough saw his well-regarded Bruges run a decent race in the feature and earlier scored with Boule Masquee (14-1) in the Duleek Handicap.

He said: "My horses have been wrong and we did not have a runner in June.

"But they seem to be back now and Boule Masquee will turn out again in a six-furlong fillies' race at Leopardstown on Thursday."

Like Magic (4-1) made his previous experience count when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden in the manner of a horse with a future.

The Pat Martin-trained colt, fifth on his debut at Bellewstown, was short of room on the rail at one point but picked up impressively for Declan McDonogh when in the clear.

Martin said: "The horse was very green the first time at Bellewstown and in hindsight that was not an ideal place to start him off on, but Davy Moran gave him a nice education.

"We were a bit worried about this trip of six furlongs as the dam barely got five, but Davy said he would have no doubt and he has been proved right.

"We think he is a smart enough horse and Declan agreed."
