Doyle emerges unscathed after fall

Sophie Doyle could be back riding again by Tuesday after escaping serious injury in a bad fall at Chepstow on Friday evening.

The jockey spent the night in hospital after being unseated from the Ian Wood-trained Dawn Wind in the concluding Waterchem, Water Treatment Fillies’ Handicap.

Initial fears seem to have been allayed following comprehensive tests and Doyle is now expecting to be home on Saturday afternoon.

Her agent Jacqueline Doyle said: “She can come out of hospital this afternoon after they kept her in for observation last night.

“They X-rayed her and thought she had damaged her hip and thigh but it looks like it is just severely bruised.

“She is talking and has been up and walking, which is something she couldn’t do last night when she couldn’t put any weight on her leg.

“Hopefully she’ll be back for Tuesday as there is a horse she has ridden before for John Spearing that might be running.”
