Beo heads Polly field

Last year’s English and Irish 1000 Guineas winner Finsceal Beo heads a nine-strong line-up for the Audi Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

Jim Bolger’s filly steps back up to a mile and a quarter after finishing third to Haradasun in the Queen Anne Stakes over a mile at Royal Ascot last week.

Mad About You, promoted from third to second in this season’s Irish 1000 Guineas, is also being stepped up in trip by Dermot Weld, while Aidan O’Brien has declared both Sail and Ice Queen.

Kevin Prendergast is also doubly-represented with Beach Bunny and Marjalina, while Pat Flynn’s She’s Our Mark completes the home team.

Two British hopefuls, Michael Stoute’s Promising Lead and Anna Pavlova, trained by Richard Fahey, are the other runners.

Anna Pavlova, a Group Two winner in France in October, has also journeyed to Ireland before and has a triumph at Navan last spring already under her belt.

She will require a step up from her first run of the season, when finishing down the field in the Coronation Cup.

“We’ve declared her and I hope it rains over there – the more they have the better her chance,” said Fahey.

“I don’t think she really handled the track at Epsom. I was happy just to get a run into her, as we were waiting for the rain to come for a couple of months.

“It was not a question of her needing the run for fitness but it will have helped her get battle-hardened and right on the button again. She will need to be on the button and if she can get a place, I’ll be delighted.”
