Charlton keen on Clowance bid

Roger Charlton has no doubts on the stamina front for his leading Juddmonte Oaks contender Clowance.

Roger Charlton has no doubts on the stamina front for his leading Juddmonte Oaks contender Clowance.

The Beckhampton trainer is seeking his first victory in the race at Epsom tomorrow, although he has already tasted success in the Derby after Quest For Fame got his career off to a flying start in 1990.

Clowance, who is owned by Seasons Holidays, has steadily shortened in the Oaks betting in recent weeks and is the 7-1 fourth favourite with many firms.

This comes on the back of her smooth defeat of Kotsi in the Swettenham Stud Fillies’ Trial Stakes at Newbury last month.

“She has had a good preparation,” said Charlton.

“Like some of the others, she’s light on experience but she has a pedigree that suggests she should stay the trip well.”
