Lincolnshire trainer James Given hopes summer remains at bay for another week as he looks to run Lady Gloria in the On The House Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday.

The Diktat filly made a pleasing seasonal bow over the course and distance when runner-up to Enforce in a hot renewal of the Listed betdirect.com EBF Conqueror Stakes on May 3.

Also successful in a French nine-furlong Listed contest on testing ground in November, Given is keeping his fingers crossed for rain at the weekend.

He said: "The plan is to go to Goodwood for the On The House Stakes but it is ground dependent - ideally she would need it soft.

"We have had some rain but whether or not we get more, I don't know.

"She will probably run on good ground but she really needs soft ground to show her best form.

"I was delighted with her first run of the season at Goodwood last time. I think there is certainly more improvement to come from her when she gets her ground.

"She is in good heart and the mile is spot-on for her, so we will hope for the rain and see what happens."
