Future looks golden for Secret

Sakhee’s Secret is far from guaranteed to make two appearances at Royal Ascot as trainer Hughie Morrison considers the Golden Jubilee Stakes his ideal target at the meeting.

Last season’s July Cup winner is also currently in the King’s Stand Stakes over the minimum trip and showed plenty of dash when second on his return over five furlongs at Newmarket.

In recent years a number of those contesting the first Royal Ascot sprint have gone on to run in the Golden Jubilee, but Morrison is considering a sole crack at the latter.

The Berkshire trainer said: “He’s very well, but we’re just contemplating whether to scratch him in the King’s Stand as his race is probably the Golden Jubilee.

“I’ll sleep on that one before deciding. We’ll go for the Golden Jubilee and I might just leave him in the King’s Stand and see.

“I think he has the pace for it, but the six-furlong race would be the right one for us to go for at Ascot.

“We could always come back in trip later in the year at York (for the Nunthorpe) or in the Prix de l’Abbaye if necessary.”

Sakhee’s Secret is available at 5-1 with a number of firms for the Golden Jubilee.
