Kurten second in Swedish Speed Final

Jessica Kurten narrowly missed racking up her third major consecutive victory at Gothenburg today when she placed second in the Speed Final with Lady Georgina Forbes's eight year-old mare Castle Forbes Cosma, behind Norway's Tony André Hansen.

Showing few traces of nerves ahead of this afternoon's World Cup Final, which she enters as favourite, the 38-year-old Irish rider was off Hansen's pace by just an eleventh of a second.

Kurten won the Gothenburg Trophy last night with Quibell and on Friday won the second leg of the World Cup competition with Castle Forbes Libertina.

Her combined prize money from four days of competition at Gothenburg is now just under €70,000.
