Murphy is King

Ferdy Murphy enhanced his great record at the Punchestown Festival when Kalahari King landed the AON Hurdle.

Despite running at Ayr last weekend, the former French-trained seven-year-old was always travelling like the winner but met some trouble in running.

Sent on turning for home, a big leap at the last sealed the race with Boulavogue and Peplum chasing him home.

The 5-1 chance was another valuable winner for Davy Russell in his quest for the Irish jockeys’ championship. He stood seven winners behind Ruby Walsh at the start of racing.
