Nicholls lands one-two in Kerrygold Champion Chase
Twist Magic and Natal have given Paul Nicholls a one-two in the Kerrygold Champion Chase.
Leading at the second-last, Twist Magic, the 6-4 favourite, was all out on the run from the last to hold his stable companion by a length and three-quarters.
Mansony finished with a flourish to take third, with Schindlers Hunt fourth.
A fast and furious pace was set by Newmill and Fair Along in the early stages until Gemini Lucy took over four out as Jessica Harrington's mare made a bid for glory in her last race before she retires to the paddocks.
However, Twist Magic showed his class to go on two out despite making several mistakes at his fences.
Natal made a gallant attempt to close the gap in the straight and Walsh – who now leads Davy Russell by six in the race for the Irish jump jockeys’ title - had to ride Twist Magic all the way to the line to ensure success.
