Nicholls runner wins Urban-I Handicap

Northern Fling - one of two David Nicholls runners - came out on top in the Urban-I Handicap, also over the minimum trip.

Favourite-backers were ready to collect when Jamie Spencer struck the front at the furlong marker aboard 9-4 market leader Chief Editor, but his mount drifted right under pressure.

That handed the initiative to Nicholls’ 20-1 winner who kept on best of all under Silvestre De Sousa to defy his top-weight burden by half a length.
