Valencia sold out
The European Grand Prix in Valencia has already been confirmed as a sell-out just 10 days after tickets went on sale.
The inaugural race on August 24 around a newly-designed street circuit has swiftly captured the imagination of Formula One fans.
All 112,771 tickets, valid for the full three days of the grand prix, have been snapped up, with 40% sold overseas, primarily in Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Germany.
Jorge Martinez Aspar, chief executive of Valmor Sports who are promoting the event, said: “We knew there was a great deal of expectation.
“But frankly it never crossed my mind that we would sell out in 10 days. I am very happy, but from now on we will have to reconsider the demand.”
Aspar concedes his company is now looking at the possibility of increasing the capacity of the grandstands.
“It is a possibility we have, but we have to thoroughly study it,” added Aspar.
“The most important thing is to guarantee the comfort of the fans. Nevertheless, if they demand it, we will have to analyse how we can have even more spectators.”
