Fakenham off after third inspection

This afternoon’s meeting at Fakenham has been abandoned due to snow.

Clerk of the course David Hunter took an initial look at 7am but was forced to check the situation again at 9am after the course endured a wintry night.

Conditions improved in the interim, but by 10am, the time he had scheduled for a critical third inspection, things had not progressed sufficiently and he was left with no option but to abandon.

Hunter said: “Unfortunately we won’t be racing as we’ve had to abandon due to the snow.

“It’s just not melting sufficiently quickly for us to be completely confident that we’d be able to race at two o’clock this afternoon.”
