They had on Sunday been relatively confident of beating the current cold snap.

A spokesman for the track said: “We’re fine here this morning and racing goes ahead.”

The going is described as good to soft and racing is set to start with the Market Cross Jewellers Fillies’ Handicap at 2pm.
