Thousands of Irish racing fans are braving adverse weather conditions in Britain today for the opening of the annual Cheltenham Festival.

Hopes are high for an Irish victory in the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle, which was won last year by 16/1 shot Subliminity.

He and Philip Carberrry are reunited this year, while the other two Carberry siblings are also in action, with Paul riding Harchibald and Nina on board Salford City.
