Time Out of Cheltenham contention

Time Electric will not run in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival.

Tom Mullins’ much-vaunted six-year-old was a leading contender for the race but will instead go for the Punchestown equivalent in April.

Mullins told the Racing Post: “His owner (Paul Duffin) is not keen on going to Cheltenham for the bumper now as he wants to keep him for the Champion Bumper at Punchestown, which is a more valuable race.

“He also feels some horses don’t come out of that Cheltenham race too well and does not want to take the chance.

“He’s not travelling next month.”
