Philip Fenton is hoping Woodbine Willie can book his ticket to the Cheltenham Festival with a big run at Naas on Sunday.

The seven-year-old, twice a winner already over timber, goes for the paddypower.com Johnstown Novice Hurdle having finished third over the same two and a half miles behind Venalmar in a similar Grade Two contest on his latest start.

“He goes to Naas on Sunday and he appears to be in great form.” said the trainer.

“He had a little break after his last run and it looks like he has improved for it.”

Woodbine Willie holds entries in three novice hurdles at Cheltenham – the Anglo Irish Bank Supreme, the Ballymore Properties and the Albert Bartlett.

“If he wins on Sunday and wins impressively then I’m sure we’ll consider Cheltenham then. He’s in all three novice hurdles so we’ve got plenty of options,” added Fenton.
