Pipe chasing racing gold
David Pipe is set to rely on Celestial Gold in Saturday’s Racing Post Chase as he targets Madison Du Berlais and An Accordion at other races.
The last-named had been prominent in the ante-post markets for Kempton’s £100,000 (€132,600) handicap but will instead be primed for a crack at another valuable prize next month.
Pipe said: “An Accordion goes straight to Cheltenham. There are only 20 days until the Festival and he wouldn’t be able to do them both, so we decided to go to Cheltenham instead – he’s only in the William Hill Trophy there.
“Madison Du Berlais could go to Cheltenham or he may go straight to Aintree- he’s in the National,” Pipe told the Racing Post.
Celestial Gold heads the weights for Saturday’s race but is available at 40-1 with betdirect and Stan James, having failed to convince in two starts this season.
