Wincanton goes ahead

This afternoon’s meeting at Wincanton, featuring the Bathwick Tyres Kingwell Hurdle, has been given the green light after the track passed a second inspection.

A 7.00am precautionary check was called by clerk of the course Rebecca Morgan on Friday but that proved inconclusive.

Overnight temperatures had dropped to minus two but the forecast was for unbroken sunshine.

Morgan and her team decided to look again at 9.30am and by then temperatures had risen enough for the card to go ahead.

“We are on,” said Morgan.

“Racing goes ahead and we have no problems at all.”
