Musselburgh set for inspection

Tomorrow's meeting at Musselburgh is subject to a precautionary inspection at 7.30am due to the threat of frost and fog.

Clerk of the course Anthea Morshead has called the check to be on the safe side, but expects the meeting to go ahead.

"We have been perfectly raceable today even though we got down to minus two last night," she said.

"It is forecast to get to minus three tonight and fog is supposed to develop.

"At the moment that is supposed to go between nine and 10 o'clock, and when it does the temperature will rise sharply.

"The problem is that you never know with fog, so we called a precautionary for 7.30am. If the forecast is correct we will still have fog at that time and we will probably have to look a second time.

"We might not get any fog at all though, and at least people know to look before they set off."
