Mister on target for De Bromhead

Mister Watzisname sprung a 20-1 surprise when claiming the Byrne Group plc Novice Hurdle at Punchestown.

Henry De Bromhead’s charge proved most game in the Grade Two heat, jumping off smartly and taking up a prominent position for Paul Carberry.

The 6-4 favourite Raven’s Run raced upsides throughout before pushing on to take over three flights from home, pulling a couple of lengths clear.

However, Mister Watzisname was not to be outbattled, clawing back ground on the rails before eventually pulling one and a half lengths clear at the line.

The race lost some of its lustre when Captain Cee Bee was declared a non-runner due to the testing conditions, while fellow Cheltenham Festival hopeful Sophocles failed to sparkle on the ground.
