Ollie Magern could return to the track in time for the Letheby And Christopher Chase at Cheltenham on January 26.

Nigel Twiston-Davies' gelding has not been lucky with injuries but returned from a lengthy absence to win a second Charlie Hall Chase in early November.

However, he flopped on his next outing at Haydock and was subjected to a medical check-up, which cost him the chance of lining up in the Stan James King George VI Chase.

Twiston-Davies said: "Ollie's fine. He's had all his bone scans and he'll have two weeks on the horse-walker before he goes back cantering.

"His next race might be the old Pillar Chase at Cheltenham."
