Ascot announce second check
This afternoon’s meeting at Ascot must pass a 10.00am inspection after a precautionary check at 7.30am proved inconclusive.
Temperatures got down to minus two and a half degrees overnight, but clerk of the course Chris Stickels is reasonably optimistic that the Berkshire track will beat the weather.
He said: “There are a few frozen divots at present, but we are hopeful that, since forecast temperatures are due to rise, there should not be any problems.
“I just want to be confident of that decision so we’ll look again at 10.00am.”
Ascot’s card features the Grade One BGC Long Walk Hurdle and the Ladbroke Hurdle.
