Jem in sparkling form

Generous Jem will be aiming to keep it in the family when she lines up in Friday’s EBF PricewaterhouseCoopers Harvest Stakes at Ascot.

The four-year-old is a half-sister to prolific winner Polar Jem, who claimed the 12-furlong Listed heat in 2005, and already has three handicap successes in the bag this term.

Like Polar Jem, Generous Jem is trained by George Margarson and hopes his filly can make the leap in class.

“She’s taking a big step up in class but she’s a filly at the top of her game,” he said.

“She’s well bred as she comes from the same family as Polar Jem who won eight races for me and Northern Jem who has also won this year.

“She’s a home-bred and will be going off to stud anyway but it would be great to get some black type for her.

“I’d be hoping for a good run.”
