Queally success at Hamilton
Tom Queally has hit a purple patch and he partnered his fifth winner in the space of 24 hours when the Feelin Foxy claimed the opening event at Hamilton.
James Given's charge was sent off a 25-1 shot in the toteplacepot.Handicap and he was one of a number with chances in the final two furlongs.
However, Feelin Foxy picked up best to take up the running and he kept on in good style for Queally to pass the post with three-quarters of a length to spare over Poppy's Rose.
Queally rode a winner at Newbury on Saturday afternoon before following up with a hat-trick at Wolverhampton's evening meeting and this success took him to 64 winners for the season.
He said: "Things are going all right now and I am only two short of my previous best.
"I started the season hoping I might get to a hundred but I was out of action through suspension for seven weeks during the busiest time of the season.
"Hopefully I could get to 75 before the turf season ends and then I will continue riding on the all weather."
Deirdre Johnston arrived too late to see Love Galore running in the Always Trying EBF Maiden Stakes, but she will have enjoyed watching a replay of the race.
Love Galore, sent off the 4-7 favourite under Greg Fairley, broke smartly from the stalls and settled nicely in front.
The Galileo colt stepped up a gear in good style when threatened by The Riddler inside the final three furlongs, before going away to score by six lengths.
Mrs Johnston, wife of trainer Mark, explained: "I was riding two horses in a horse trial at Aske, near Richmond, this morning and we flew up to Cumbernauld Airport.
"Unfortunately, the taxi we had arranged turned up 15 minutes late and I just arrived too late to see the race.
"Love Galore was a bit keen first time out but obviously I will have to have a look at the race and see what I think of his performance."
Fairley added: "My dad and former jockey Joe O'Gorman told me last night how to ride the horse and it has all paid off."
