Approach form thrills Bolger

Jim Bolger is in bullish mood ahead of New Approach’s run in the Galileo EBF Fund Futurity Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday – even though Henrythenavigator is among the opposition.

A small but select field of five go to post for the Group Two contest over seven furlongs, but Bolger knows exactly what it takes to win the race, having scored with the brilliant Teofilo 12 months ago.

“He’s got a very big future,” the County Carlow handler said of New Approach.

“He won his maiden very nicely and then he progressed to win his Group Three well too.

“He’s been in good from since and I believe he will handle any going. If it’s testing it shouldn’t bother him as he’s a big strong horse and he likes to get on with things who can find plenty when it is needed.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence in him,” Bolger told At The Races.

“I trained his mother (Park Express), who was very tough. I’ve also had some very nice experiences with Galileo’s offspring.

“This fellow certainly measures up and I’m sure as the year progresses he will go on and become a horse to be reckoned with.”

In addition to Henrythenavigator, New Approach will face Warsaw, also trained by Aidan O’Brien, Curtain Call and Pretty Ballerina.
