Shergar Cup teams confirmed

Jamie Spencer and Ryan Moore will miss Saturday’s Shergar Cup at Ascot, with Kevin Manning and Kevin Darley stepping up to the plate.

Jamie Spencer and Ryan Moore will miss Saturday’s Shergar Cup at Ascot, with Kevin Manning and Kevin Darley stepping up to the plate.

Spencer was due to captain the Irish team but has been claimed to ride at Newmarket on the same day, as has Great Britain rider Moore.

As a result, Jimmy Fortune replaces Spencer as captain of Ireland, with Manning and Declan McDonogh completing the team.

In addition to Darley, the Great Britain squad will consist of captain Martin Dwyer and Seb Sanders, whose participation is subject to a suspension appeal on Thursday.

Europe will be captained by Frankie Dettori, with the Italian joined by the Swede, Fredrick Johansson, and Germany’s Andreas Suborics.

The Rest of the World team will be captained by Australian Hugh Bowman, with compatriot Darren Beadman and Japanese rider Yutaka Take also involved.
