Darley set to return
Kevin Darley is pencilled in for a return to action on Thursday after suffering a nasty-looking foot injury at Yarmouth.
The popular northern jockey gave up his rides at Catterick today after his mount, Viewforth, stumbled out of the stalls in the concluding five-furlong handicap on Tuesday.
Darley’s left foot collided against the gates as a consequence – but the combination still managed to finish fifth.
The experienced rider underwent X-rays in York this morning but scans showed no significant damage to the joint.
Darley’s agent Shippy Ellis said: “There was nothing broken thankfully and he’s resting up.
“Things had improved a lot this morning – he could barely put weight on it on Tuesday night – and all being well, he should be OK to ride at York on Thursday night.”
