Ascot have grounds for concern

Ascot will stage an inspection at 4pm on Thursday for Friday and Saturday’s races over 10 furlongs and farther.

Although the straight course is good to soft, the round course is soft, heavy in places with false patches of ground.

Clerk of the course Chris Stickels is therefore taking no chances.

He said: “There are two races on Friday and one on Saturday that we are monitoring.

“At the moment, the situation has improved since yesterday but the forecast is for unsettled weather on Thursday and Friday.”
